Professor of Rock: The Music of Our Lives

"The world is made of
stories, not atoms."
~ Muriel Rukeyser

Adam Reader (also known as the Professor of Rock) is a storyteller.

And a story-listener. Through his YouTube videos, he tells us the stories of music.

Our music. The music we grew up with.

Music that - in our youth - set our hearts, minds, and hormones ablaze.

With his winning smile and his retro style, Adam coaxes us to remember why we love these incredible songs.

Once he has our attention, Adam turns his own attention to the songwriters and musicians who have helped create a world worth living in.

Musician Kenny Loggins credits Adam with being one of his favorite interviewers.

During interviews, Adam gets the ball rolling and then steps out of the way.

When he asks questions, Adam gives his guests time to provide full and thoughtful responses. He listens. (A refreshing change from the interrupts-fifty-times-a-minute style of some interviewers.)

Adam’s guests seem to appreciate his sincere respect for them, as well as his in-depth comprehension of their music.

His musical knowledge appears to be never-ending. Rather like Mary Poppins’ magical bag, Adam keeps pulling interesting trivia tidbits out of his too-cool-for-school hat.

More than once, I’ve seen musicians’ eyes light up as Adam shares his familiarity with all aspects of their music. They realize he loves their music as much as they do.

Adam’s interviews with our favorite musicians often surprise us by revealing moments and events we knew nothing about.

Songs we have loved for decades take on a whole new light (and delight) as we hear some of these stories for the first time.

Adam’s own personal history proves to be as fascinating as those of the musicians he interviews.

Adam’s videos are irresistible to those who love classic music.
